Create a Zen Area outside using the five elements

Create your own Zen area by bringing in harmony and balance to your space, using the five elements. When the color and the elements are used together with intention, it can change the energy of your space. Have fun and let me know how your space feels after adding the elements!

STEP 1

First, clean and declutter the area.

STEP 2

Once your space is ready, you can use the tips below to apply each of the five elements to your outdoor space.

  • Plants are a great and natural way to bring in the wood energy to your outdoor space.

  • Fire energy can be incorporated by using the color red, for example a red umbrella could add passion and life energy to your space.

  • If you would like to add more stability and a grounded energy to your space, consider adding in more “earth” using the color brown (i.e. brown seating).

  • To add the energy of simplicity, bring in metal elements like a silver lantern.

  • Water energy is all about inviting flow and ease into your space. For an outdoor area, consider incorporating a black rug for fluidity (and practicality).
